Engine stalls out after starting & idling fine. HELP!
Hi friends,
Looking for some help on an issue that's been driving me crazy. 2001 Type-R that just recently had new rings and new valves put in. After getting everything back together the car ran perfectly fine for a week. Then one day while driving on the highway the car cut off and has been intermittently cutting off ever since. Whenever it does cut off it usually doesn't like to fire back up right away, only turning over after having cooled down a bit. Other than cutting off it felt, sounded and drove fine.
I've swapped wires, plugs and the entire distributor assembly. Fuel pump primes and I can hear all the clicks from the main relay. Most recent change was the distributor and now it will not run for more than 5 minutes before cutting off. Before the distributor change it would do it every couple of days or so. Can't even get it running long enough to warm it up and put a timing gun on it.
Here's a video of the car while idling and then the way it cuts off. Sounds like it's running out of gas almost. The sound at idle in the video is affected by ambient noise and bad video quality. After it does this it won't turn over for a couple minutes but then it will start up fine and just do it all over again.

I had a similar issue with my caR recently. Very intermittent, would almost stall at a stop light once or twice a day. We finally tracked it down to a coil grounding out in the dizzy. I know you said you replaced it, but i'd look at the dizzy again. Ive had to replace mine twice in 11 years, and i think this a known weak link in our cars. ( There is a casting line in the dizzy that it shorted too, we ground it off so it would not happen again.)
