Performance

No formal time tests have been made yet, but owner estimates 0-60 in about 2-2.5 seconds, 1/4 mile at 9.25 and 160 mph on about 1000 HP. It handles perfectly straight up to 130 mph - top speed so far. This car does NOT sit in the garage and look pretty. It drives around town and looks "surprisingly normal." That is, until the rear engine is fired up...

Holy crap!!! That is the craziest swap ive ever seen. to him for building it and driving it everyday.

 

where does the trans go. it should be sticking out the back of the car like three feet. I would like to see this in person

hmmmm, yeah. where is the tranny? and the intake? does he just leave the windows down when he's drag racing?

 

the oldsmobile toronado was a front wheel drive, V-8 equipped car, so the tranny is basically under the motor. and the intake is sitting right on top of the supercharger so it sucks its air from the passenger compartment.... better have the windows open!

Talk about needing some earplug inside the car... I'll bet he'd go deaf if he fired up that charger without the plugs.

 

i think its BS.. no way you can fit a Olds V8 and tranny and 3 fuel tanks in that car with the interior still in tact like that.

 

If it's not bs, I like the idea of having both engines in the car for driveability. But that only works in theory. The added weight of the rear engine, tranny, and axle being lugged around by the 4 cyl engine up front, when the rear engine isn't "Fired Up" makes this car slower than grass growing. When the rear engine is running, I don't think a CRX radiator would be enough to cool it. I'm not saying it's BS. It just doesn't look practical to me.

EDIT: On a related, but unimportany note I came very very close to putting a 350 in the back of a 1st gen rex... but then Im just insane anyway

i think they actually had the car on one of the episodes of Horsepower TV!!! dont know if the same one though.

 

I believe that would be a NO ****! He say's no where that he's running a "stock" crx Radiator and HIGHLY doubt he is.
