leave 98 civic obd1 with swap or make obd2?
ok i have a 98 civic ex, im putting in a b18a1, i have everything i need, i have the wireing harness from the b18a1 and ecu. (as well as mounts, hydro-cable conversion, shift linkage) is there any downside of just swaping that right into my civic? does it effect passing inspection or emissions or anything like that? i live in mass if it makes a difference. or do i have to change it to obd 2 for some reason?
kinda need info asap if you could help that would be a total help. need to get this thing done asap, car hydrolocked the stock motor and need this fixed!
and yes i have searched for this and seen people do it either way with there car, i just dont know what the difference in the end will be... thanks in advance

When it comes to emmisions putting an older engine in a newer car is not allowed and you will not pass inspection, but ofcourse its perfectly fine to put a newer engine in an older car, go figure. Hope this helps!
im having the same problem i have a 99 ek with a gsr engine. The car and the engine are both obd2 but the computer is a s300 obd1 so know its tunned but can get the sticker for it............
