is a D16z6 head practical on a obd2 D16y7 block?? My friend want to make his motor Stock EK hatch CX motor into a vtec, is it worth it and will it work? What else besides the vtec head and ecu is needed? Also which ecu would be the best to got with??

i've done it, but not in an ek. i did it in an eg cx hatch. you'll need:

9 y7 head studs, 1 z6 head stud
a z6 crank pulley (IMPORTANT for timing purposes)
y7 or z6 head asket
z6 timing belt
and if it fits (it should), a y8 manifold if you're thinking of putting this into an ek
whatever ecu is used in a 96-00 ex
