that sound is made by the ignition and a fuse under the dash now the fuse is not what makes the noise it just provides power to some of the things on the dash.
now if every thing works on the car like the dash lights and ect then try puttin the key in and wiggle it i changed mine ignition and some times it dont beep and some timeit does but only when i move it try that lmk

when you open the door theyres a switch with a little peice of rubber to seal it from water. pulll back the panel on the inside and see if its plugged in or corroded. my cx stopped dinging completly when i unplugged the drivers and passengers door. (when the doors are open, and the lights are on and such)

personally i hate interior dingers. especially z31 fairladys AhHhH!. "youe door is ajar, your door is ajar, your door is ajar"

good luck. and if that doesnt help resort to a haynes or helmes manual. theyres free downloads on hondaswap.com unless you have a torrent program download it from theyre.

To my knowledge, 5th gen Civics have seat belt and key-in chimes, but not a lights-on chime.

The chime function is built into the integrated control unit (ICU) attached to the back of the under-dash fuse box. You would need somehow to replace your ICU with one having a lights-on chime and wire it to the combination switch; however, I don't even know whether this is possible.

Just go to radioshack and buy a cheap Piezo buzzer. I bought one with the part number of 273-059; it cost a little under $4. You just wire it up to the 2 fuses in that 2nd link I posted. Should probably buy some double sided tape or velcro to mount it, so it's not just hanging there and pulling out the wires all the time.

Yeah, a friend of mine has a 5G Civic sedan (LX) and it doesn't have a stock headligts on warning. It had to be added in as described above.
