Is this normal for my cv axle? cant push it in anymore!
99 honda accord f23a1 manual tranny. On the passenger side the axle will only push in this far(as shown in pictures) wanna say around 1/2" from differential. Axle did pop out from a recent clutch job i did. hoping nothing wrong happened in the tranny the splines felt fine in the differential but im no expert.
turn the drives axles while pushing on them until it engages the spline and can turn the opposite driveaxle. apply pressure on the inner cv joint by pushing the axle in towards the tranny until it won't mope then use a hammer to strike the hub side of the axle and watch it slowly slide into the tranny. of course you made sure there were snap rings on the end of the axles before you put them in the tranny

should work. i had the half inch gap keep my car from runnin for 2 days before i decided just to force em. can can use someone really big to physically push them in or just put pressure on the axle and hammer
I noticed the same thing when I was replacing my axles. The driver side one comes in and out relatively easy (once you get the keeper clip out of its groove), but the passenger side was a pain in the neck. It was hard to get out, and it was tough to slide the new one back in. I did exactly what bdmlilburn says -- slide it in as far as it goes, and then gently tap it in place; it *will* go all the way in. Also, it helps to cover both the splined and the polished splineless part with clean engine oil before puttig the axle in.

What I would do is use a hammer and hammer the Hub end while holding the axel str8 as much as possible. Mine won't go in if I push by hand, It will only go in if I use a mallet or hammer to make it go in.
