d16 tranny
hey guys, my syncros went out in my d16z6 tranny and i thought it'd be easier to just swap trannys i just checked one o my buddy's civic and it has an s40 tranny that he'd be willing to give me for practically free. the tranny in my z6 is an s20. would this be a good swap?
The only thing S20 really tells you is that its a '92 - '95 D-series tranny, same as the S40 tells you its a '96 - '00 D-series tranny. What you actually want to look at is is the small stamp on the back of the tranny around the differential, it will either say A000 (CX/VX/DX/LX) or B000 (EX/Si/HX) you want the one that says B000, just try to make sure that its not out of an HX, they use the same gears as the '96 - '00 CX/DX/LX, but use a big bearing case, weird.
