ive also got a turbo that i bought from a private seller and i wanna make sure it works b4 i install it...is there someway i can check myself or do i have to waste $$ and take it to some1 that knows how to check it.......

 

gently and slowly spin the shaft, and try to wiggle it (check for shaft play). it shouldn't have much play, and should spin freely. don't spin it too much without oil in it, though
