Default idle surging

i just replaced my alternator belt and now my car idles around 1500 and surges between 1000 and 1500 at idle after its warmed up. dont know if thats why exactly but it just happened after that. my idle was a bit high around 1100 or 1200 since i got rid of my power steering and looped the lines also though. all happened this week.

its a 94 h23

It could be just a coincidence. Maybe not. I had an idle surge issue on my 88, and never did figure out what caused it. It just cleared up one day, on it's own. A couple of things to check, are vacuum lines, Idle Air Control Valve, Fast Idle Valve, Throttle Position Sensor.

ya that was my question, basically if anything i did could have directly affected this or if its a coincidence. i looked around for what i could but without light right now its a bit tough. Its gonna have to wait till the morning but if i can get a few common locations from people it would be helpful.

check the vacum lines first as they are the most common problem

did u tension your alternator belt correctly??...just throwing it out there but my alternator belt was loose and after tighting it my idle would bounce less often

Its a coincidence. The white collar inside the fitv needs to be tightened back down. Idle bounce is a common problem.

k well a family friend was spraying brake cleaner around looking for vacuum leaks and said that my o rings on my fuel injectors needed to be changed, and thought that would fix the problem, well i did that and still no fix, so i sprayed brake cleaner in that area and noticed it seemed like the gasket there was leaking and not the injectors themselves. does it seem like the gasket there is the problem?

Just to be clear

i start my car and its idles around 2k-2.5k rpms, then drops to around 1800 rpms idle. if i touch the throttle it will start to surge from 1800 or so to 800.

Are you talking about the intake manifold gasket? If so, yeah, that could cause the idle bounce due to a vacuum leak. The FITV is your Fast Idle Throttle Valve.
