Default Kirkey Seat Mounting/Fab experts

To anyone, please comment. I talked with a chassis builder about cage work and seat mounting(Kirkeys) He said the seat mounting can be done on sliders, with an adjustable back brace to the roll bar, Kirkey claims that this should not be done,! Solid bottom mounts only..Has anyone mounted Kirkeys on sliders, I am looking at this from a safety stand point only. I would think that the front/back movement would be dangerous, comments, maybe some pics of mounts, I searched around, didn't find much...Thanks,

are you talking about slider that are used on like Sparco seat? I think the reason why Kirkey said no because i think those seat are intended to be permanently mounted. They do sell bracket to raise and lower the angle of the seat but not to slide it front to back...If you want to be able to adjust the seat front and back i wouldn't recommend a kirkey

plenty of ppl run stock sliders. I am going to mount my seats in a few days and just got my sldiers ready by taking off all the brackets for the stock seat.

Besides that I would recommend using a back brace. I know I am just need to think about a clever way to mount it and also be adjustable.

Plenty of people run sliders, but with Kirkleys? I would call them to find out their reasoning.

i did a straight mount no sliders. silders on a drag car are dumb what if you get into a crash and the sliders brake. plus you need to put back support on the seat to the cage witch if you do that then you cant slide it.

if your going drag only and no adjustments,... what i do i just take some .125 aluminum and do Z style bends on it and bolt to the seat and the othe side to the floor. lol if that makes sense. i can post a pic if you like

I was guessing that's the reason why they told him no no on the sliders with a Kirkey seat. For the breakage factor.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. I mean I understand why U don't need a slider under the seat and if your the only one who's ever gonna drive it then yeah mount that thing up perm status, but for me, our drag car is owned and driven by 3 different guys and I'm like 6'+ and the other guys are 5' sumthin so we need an adjustable seat.

why not make a permanent, yet adjustable type of mount for the seats? that is what we do when a car comes in the shop that will be driven by different drivers.

mount it solid and to the cage. here is a couple of pics in my integra to get some ideas.

ive turned a hand full away with bad seat mounting at the track. mount it right, mount it safe.

in my "office" id like to have a race seat that i know will save my life then having to think twice about it.

Is this a race car? If so, dont jerk around. Just mount it fixed. I think you will find that without a fixed back support that there is too much moment about the lower mounts.
