Icon2 I don't understand why my car is overheating...

Its never been this hot before! and it was still hot after i turned off the car for more than 15 minutes, which is unusual for my car, because its like burning hot! I don't know why its overheating, and I don't know what to check, but radiator fluid is good, and I just put in the new distributor. no more leak yay! but now another prob! Someone Help Me please it will be greatly appreciated!

Yep, X2. you need to go thru the list.

Bleed it first, put it on an incline, and open the valve, close it once bubbles stop coming out, and check the fluid levels, to keep levels up.

Check Tstat by seeing if both hoses are the same pressure and temperature.

Water pump, see if water is moving at all under the radiator cap, when the Tstat is open. If not the Pump is out. (it can be hard to tell)

If it is, does it FIZZ when you rev the engine, if so, then its a bad headgasket, or warped head.

Good luck

both of these guys nailed it ^^^ thermostat stucked closed instead of open is what spoledbseries means. just feel around on the hoses and find that tempature indiffernce. tell us what you find.

blocked heater core is another possible culprit.

what!? blocked heater core? you mean blocked radiator...?

step two (after checking fluid level)...

fans love to fail without warning. nothing will be wrong with you car.. then just like that it's overheating at a stoplight.

crank it up, let it idle while you watch the temp gage rise to normal. wait for the fan to come on. if it goes above normal temp without fans, tap the fan motor with a wrench or something. even try pushing the blades a little. this may get it to start. if is starts then, you know for sure its a bad fan and not a bad wire or thermoswitch.
