Default First time using full slicks, have problems!

First off, thanks for viewing-

I am new to drag racing(with a fast-er car), most of my racing career has been dedicated to road course's.

My main problem is doing the burn out. Even with 205s on the rear, I cannot sit still, well even remotly have some resistance to get a good burn out. It usually consits of just dragging the rear wheels, not creating much smoke.

My routine is, I roll in the water box, spin them a little, roll foward then do a second gear. It has no problem spinning them, just the tires lock up and slide.

Should I do more of a burn out in the water box to help the tires not stick as well?

passes on slicks
12.0
11.8
11.7
11.4

little about the car-

DA integra
J1 trans/lsd
lsvtec 500+whp
18k rear springs
-.5 camber in front

And edit, this is not a joke.

Do your burnout in the water box, let off the ebrake and continue the spin out of the box towards the line. then stop and stage.

I do my burnout in 2nd gear.

I get lined up in the water box, holding up the e-brake and I only hold it up for about 2-3 seconds while the tires get hot( ranging at around 7000 while the tires start to get warm and the car starts to move forward) I usually let the car smoke the tires for 3-5 seconds before I put my foot through the floor and let it hit the rev limiter( peddling it so that its not just pinned there) and I release the e-brake(at the same time) so that the car pulls itself out of the water box into the staging area.

I think you are not revving the car up high enough, fast enough, to get enough spin out of the tire thus the thing gaining traction and pulling you out of the box before you are ready.

Or do I have this totally wrong.

everyone has a different style they like, but when I do my burnouts, I roll through the water box and pull like 1 foot past it, then I stop, I only pull the ebrake while im on the 2step, once I let clutch out in 2nd gear, I pretty much drop ebrake at same time and let car roll forward spinning the tires

how far out of the water box are u pulling before u do your burnout? your tires may be too dry to really get a good burnout, do u have your 2step set up high enough to get the tires spinning right away? it mostly comes with practice, take the car out a few times and u will get it figured out.

I also beleive im pulling to far foward into the rubber laid down by other cars.

Im releasing the clutch out around 5k, then jumps to rev limiter/pedle it.

Maybe im slipping it to much, giving it time to catch traction?

drop the clutch higher or try 3rd gear and a higher rpm and no e-brake, I had no issue just sitting still doing a burnout dropping the clutch at like 7k in 2nd gear no 2 step, then again I dont launch on the 2step either so IDK, only ran on a shitty track.

IDK, i do all my burnouts in 1st gear, and cut Low 1.7's in a heavy low powered car. and cut mid 1.6's in my 400+hp ef. not great 60's, but good for the track conditions around here

I dont see you dragging the rear tires. And you are shifting into 2nd gear way to early, I can hear it falling flat on its face.

EDIT: nice thread jack btw

my e brake needs to be tightend cause it wouldnt hold it in place

I have a DA and my burnout's suck also. The slicks do tack up from what I can tell. It would be nice to have a quality burnout though. I think it might just make my car a little more consistent. Maybe not though.

I tried a second gear burnout, and it sucked just like the first gear burnout did. Using my shitty e-brake doesn't seem to make a difference. It's probably because my e-brake doesn't hold the car all that good.

3rd gear burn out is the best but it sucks on your tranny

try dropping clutch at 7-8k in 2nd and ride it out for a sec, that should be plenty of heat for tires

well after watching my videos again i wasnt really hitting boost during burnouts either wich is probly why the car didnt sit very well lol lower wheel speed=more friction and causing the slicks not to get hot. My launches also seem to not be building my 8psi either according to datalog lol My fault

you dont need to build anymore than what you are now at launch, I can hear the tires spinning.... just dont panic and short shift 2nd gear, atleast ride 1st to the 60' if not a little further whatever it takes to not bog, it looked like as soon as the rpm's hit redline you just nailed 2nd gear.

like everyone is saying rev it higher before you dump the clutch in the box. I peddle it in the box to get a bit of smoke and as soon as I see the smoke over the fenders I drop the brake and at the same time push the peddle to the floor and spin out of the box. I dumped at 7-8k rpm in the box
