Default Euro spec to US spec

Is there any soild information about how I can turn a Euro spec 92 civic to US spec. What is the difference between the two anyways. The only thing that I can see is the corner lights on the fenders but what is it about the euro spec that needs to be changed over so I can ship it from Germany to the US. Please help need good info because it's a deliema that I serious need to overtake.

turning euro into US model.. hmmm.. it is only minor things.. the fender blinkers, rear fog light.. but nothing else.. everything else is the same as the US version.. i know, because i have owned a USDM civic and a EUDM Civic.. so.. it is the same..

why worth the shipping for a couple of extras..? if you can get some extra wiring and switches installed at your house..

You probably need USDM corner lights with the reflector, maybe tailights too. Depending on just where its going you may need to add emissions components.

No No No I have to ship this vehicle from Germany to the States. There is more to just making the car LOOK like a American Spec Civic. Im not going for LOOK here guys im trying to get this thing pass inspectors and customs. Blinkers and taillights are the least of my concerns. There's things like safety features and electric features that go with euro spec vehicles. All I know is that the civic needs to comply with DOT and EPA regulations. Is there anyone out there that has detailed information on what I need to convert and how much am I looking to spend for such a conversion.

you need to go to customs and the local dmv to see what is required to title it in the states.

or talk to someone who has done it.

there is a thread with this info somewhere if you search for it. or just google it. but i doubt you'll get much more information from us here (this forum) because we haven't done it. unless you wanna hang around and have fanbois go OMG over your imported import

there are people on honda-tech that have done it and a few that currently do it. look for ppl with rhd cars (rhd cars will have the same processes as you'll have) in the for sale section of this site and ki8ndly ask them. they may help you.

Thankis for the imput. And for the guy that said something about the rear fogs, im not sure but I think those come out of England. Ive seen many EGs in Germany and not too many have them. And this civic still has a carborator (sucks) 1.3 liter, but it saves gas; not for long though. K-power!!

You do realize that those reflectors in the corner lights and tailights are what makes them D.O.T. compliant right? You may have other stuff to worry about but depending on how strict whoever is inspecting the car upon entry is you may need them.

That 1.3 carbed engine may give you trouble, I can't see a state like California letting you bring something like that in, maybe some of the less strict states.

The rear foglights were either extremely common or mandatory in Holland, i'm not sure about other european countries.

Yea there is no joking with inspections here in Germany. Each and every year vehicles go through a very strict inspection and shipping a Euro spec to the states is a headache some people would rather do without. But it's a clean Honda and like all of us Honda guys if there is a will to do something we all find a way to get it done. Il keep you guys updated on my build. Cleanest EG in Germany.

i would start by looking at the vin and see if you can get info from Honda about the smog that is on the vehicle. if the vin looks like a USDM you might not have any problems. then look at the state you are moving to and the smog they have. you may have to find a shop to give you a docs stating the car is being shipped in pieces and when you get to the states register it as a one off/ kit car (i have seen many JDM's enter the states this way)
if you going to do a swap just keep it USDM and see the state ref to pass the car.

Thanks for the info. A swap is definitly something I must do first just because the 1.3 is gutless and im sure the carborator will not pass smog. I must also keep the exhaust sound under 95db
