what about your ecu ???? is it chipped ???
if so then try reflashing it sometimes it can get lost very rare but it can happen
also you may want to check engine codes that it may through at you

sometime the filter on the vtec solenoid gets clogged. if this happens vtec won't engage because the oil psi isn't what it needs to be. remove solenoid and clean filter. and check oil level.

check your oil. vtech runs off of oil pressure. not enough oil no vtech. trust me i had vtech problems just the other day and i almost blew my engine with no oil and that was my problem. lmk
you're a smart *** and a douche bag, he said hes a noob and doesnt know how to start a new thread. no one else was going to tell him, you're still a noob too, if you cant say something to help someone in a TECH forum, GTFO and if youre unsure what that means maybe you should ask someone and get flamed for it.
there is a lot that can be checked frst if it does a code 21 then check the vtec sely
and the wires to the firewall and check the sensor connected to the sel
if that seems to be ok then check the ecu and make sure that you have the pin a14
oh and make sure that the wire is not melted or anything.
if everything seems fine then i am sorry but your fooked mang you just may need a whole new harness or you can just run with out vtec !!!

check the wiring to your knock sensor...make sure everything is wired correctly...
im in the process of diagnosing this same kind of problem. I tried running stock ECU's for my B16 and it ran but no VTEC...i tried a stock JDM ITR (P73 i believe) and a stock GSR ECU. Neither one worked. But as soon as i plugged in a chipped P28....whallah....all is well...

the reason the P28 is engaging "VTECH" ( lol ) as someone stated before, is because the P28 is not looking for a knock sensor...the other ones are...the knock sensor could either be faulty or not wired correctly...
