Just boosted the EF, now im having some problems. :/
Hey all, I have a 1990 Si with a SOHC ZC. I recently had a turbo installed performed by a local shop.
It included:
-Garret T2/T3 turbo
-Generic intercooler
-3" Piping
-CRX HF manifold
-Adapter plate
-Wastegate
-**** style boost controller
-D16A6 ECU
The motor is 100% stock and im looking for a P28 to get chipped. So its still running the stock D16A6 fuel maps.
Im not pushing the car hard since its not tuned. Just daily driving it to get around. I believe the shop set the boost at ~5Lbs, but I could be wrong. I just ordered some 390CC injectors to get tuned along with the car.
Lately, when I drive the car for more then 10 minutes, it idles pretty funky then dies. I gotta give it a tad bit gas to prevent this. The hose that is coming from the MAP sensor had a screw in it :smash:, so I got a longer hose but it didnt seem to fix anything.
Can anyone give me some advice before I take it back to the shop? Is it the stock ECU thats causing this? Ive only had the car for about 5 days now, but I dont want to leave my car again if its something I can fix myself.

Yes, the stock ecu is what's causing it, and the fact that you don't have the right injectors, nor do you have it tuned, do yourself a favor and not drive it at all. Other wise you'll risk hurting your motor, if not blowing it up which means more money out of your pocket. Get it tuned, and do it right don't take short cuts or the easy way out.
The only acceptable amount of boost to run on the stock ECU is ZERO.
I actually drove my car around for 2 weeks one time with stock injectors and ECU. I was able to stay out of boost completely without any problems.
Do that until you get a better fuel solution.
