with a chipped ecu a person can have chips burnt for their specific engine mods. If I was going to spend the money and was going to mod the engine needing a different tune ther then stock, I would just buy a chipped vtec ecu.

Say you are running boost, its safer because it makes the car dump more fuel and prevents it from running rich.

Its not really an alternative to a good tune, but its better than nothing.

My friend has a P28 in his EM1, and he has Launch control and made his CEL be his shift light. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

with small mods, a chip can be very beneficial.
change redline on rpm
change vtec engagement
disable o2 sensor since you will be running off a fuel basemap
2 step launch
etc etc etc

www.phearable.net, they got good pre chipped obd1 ecus.

I think you mean to prevent it from running Lean. And if your running Boost the only time running a Chip from say Phearable.net is just to get your Tuner.

i have dealt with phearable.net and have had nothing but good experiences. tell him you mods and he'll burn you a chip or purchase a chipped ecu from him. ive been dailying his chip for over 2 years. it definately was smoother then the other chips i have ran

I never said anything bad about Phearable. I am just saying that His chips or any other chip is still NOT a substitute for a real Tune on a boosted or all motor car.

Once I am boosted I will either Trailer my car to the Dyno..or get Pherable to burn me a Basemap chip based on my setup and drive it to the Tuner..It will then be tuned and the Pherable chip thrown in the trash as I will no longer need it.
