Default a little brake problem...

I checked a friends car that he bought last week (94 hatch) , and the bleeder screw in the front passengers side was seized, the nipple and the "6 point bolt" part is gone. how can I take it off? it doesnt affect anything now, but when its time to bleed the brakes there will be a problem. Just seeing what can be done other than spending $$ for a new caliper.

well a reman caliper will be the easiest way. for like 25 bucks its about the cheapest too. you could step drill the old one out but that would take a little bit of time. just gotta see if your time is worth more then the 25 bucks the caliper will cost.

Get some vise Grips some good ones and get that bitch out. i had the same problem. make sure the vise grips have good strong teeth and have someone real strong clamp it on good. Or buy a REMAN caliper.

so the drilling part, do I need a regualr drill or those that go the different direction? the bad thing about the screw is that there is nothing to grip on for the vice grip, so i guess the only option is drilling it or getting a new caliper

my friend checked schucks and a remain caliper is at least 80 something bucks w/o tax

If you have good vise grips it will grip the metal no matter if it rounded off or not.

yes, true but the only problem is that the screw is gone, and there is nothing to grip on. the screw is in the hole, it doesnt affect the brakes for now, but once he needs a brake bleed, there is going to be a problem
