Hey guys,
sorry if this has been covered checked all the FAQ's couldn't find anything.
Question - How do I determine If I have an Auto block or a manual block??
is their any indicating number on the engine code, or is there anything that could help me figure this out??
thanks for the help

I could be wrong, but they are interchangable with the transmissions/blocks. I believe the main difference is the use of a flexplate instead of a flywheel. Someone with more knowledge please step in and correct me if I am wrong.

I don't know if it's the same for all blocks but on the H22 the recesses for the flywheel bolts are a different length ;/

How is it different?
Any H-series engine and transmission can bolt up together and work, being auto or manual has nothing to do with the block its all in the tranny (of course switching your car from manual/auto or auto/manual u'll need a few other things). You can even bolt f-series trannys on h blocks and vise versa. If you get an H2b kit you can mount up a b-series tranny if u really want to.
Right now i have a 2000 SH swap in my 92 with an H23 tranny from a 93.

The ATTS blocks are different in several ways. ^ You most likely don't have one.
As for determining which block you have, see if the VIN is still on the back of the motor. That will tell you EVERYTHING.

Dude, Many times when You guy JDM H22 engines they have auto transmission. You can still put manual transmission on them. Also How people put h22 transmission in accord with auto trannys. Blocks are not made for a certain tranny, at least h22's arent

"Honda has provided manual and automatic engine crankshafts with varying machined bolt depths for the flywheels."
^^^Quoted from someone who has done significant R&D on H22 blocks/crankshafts.
When running an H2B kit this can create a large issue as the "custom" flywheel bolts are susceptible to "walking" out of the AUTO crankshafts.
and PS....the cam profiles are also different in some (maybe all) of the Auto and Man blocks. Your comment of the only difference is in the Trans. is incorrect.
How big of a difference you talking? I have A 5th GEN auto block and A SH block next to each other... i can check what you want me too...
Ohh, and I have a Non SH block too from 4th Gen that came off a manual.
