Default h22 question

does the h22 have a balance shaft?
where is it in the block

oh yeah and what the hell the flywheel called in a auto car?

yes the h22 has balance shafts. they are located about half way down the block, one in the front, one in the back. an auto trans. flywheel is called a flexplate.

Can the balance shaft be replaced if broken or removed without damageing the engine?

I know it will shake without it but how bad

anyone have pictures of these balance shafts on a stripped block?
so i guess the f22 and h23 have balance shafts too

so if you get forged internals and get your crank balanced and knifedged,
would you also have to get your balance shafts balanced as well?

Take those puppies out. Itll free up like at least 10 whp... Might vibrate a little more at idle. Im prolly gonna take mine out when i do my timing belt, water pump and cam and valvetrain.

yes Shop up in lexighton ky does it all the time and see gains anywhere from 7 to 12whp. Pretty nice ah. You could always put it back on if you dont like the way it feels.

Just disconnect the balance shaft belt. DON'T REMOVE THE SHAFTS AS THEY ARE TIED INTO THE OILING SYSTEM.
