rod bolt torque ?
this is my first engine build and i have a question about the torque for the rod bolts. the engine is a b16a with ctr pistons, stage 2 cam, good springs and all, basically like a type r. do i need to torque the rod bolts with a rod bolt stretch gauge, or the regular way torqued with lubricant. I noticed on alldata it says to use the stretch gauge for itr. since this motor is going to make a little more power and goin to rev about 800 rpms higher than the stock b16a, what should i use? I have torgue wrenches but dont have the stretch gauge, can get one tomorrow at summit. they have nice arp gauge.
My buddy didnt want to pay for rods, neither did he want to buy a new water pump, timing belt, and he didnt want to pay to get the head checked out. I actually talked him in to gettin the crank checked out and micro polished when i got the block honed. I wanted to do it all right but some people dont understand i guess. i dont think i will build another for someone unless they do it right cause i dont want to look bad when something comes apart, or over heats
i dont need torque specs, i need to know if i should use a rod bolt stretch gauge or a torque wrench for tightening the rod bolts, but since the block is getting the stock rods back, i dont think were going to be taking it past 8200 so ill probably just torque them with a torque wrench
