Default Window Motor Failure?

Recently my drivers side window has stopped going up/down. Whenever i push the button to make it go up/down, i can hear the motor running but nothing happens. To me it kind of sounds like a gear is turning but the teeth is stripped so its just grinding but im not really sure. I can move the window up/down manually so i was thinking that i might just need a new motor but im not sure if i need to get a new regulator too.

Any suggestions/comments before i spend money?

unbolt the door panel and take a look (btw it gives u like a foot more leg room. I took out my door panels)

then if u can unhook the 2P plugin that goes to the motor and put direct power using a battery, if the motor works u know its not that

odds are its just the main relay switch not sending current to the motor
