honda civic04 overheating problem
My honda 04 civic sedan keeps overheating intermittently. I brought it to the dealership and they replaced the thermostat. As soon as it left I notice the radiator was always a quart an half low and my overflow tank is filled up to the neck. I took it back to the dealership two weeks later and they couldn't figure out whats wrong with it. they told me the thermostat is ok and suggested my radiator or waterpump be replaced. I had my waterpump replace about 6 months ago and so I decided to have them replace my radiator to see if that was the problem.
The problem still remains, my radiator is still low in coolant and it keeps pushing coolant to the overflow tank. My car is still overheating intermittently. I don't want to take it back to the dealership because they are just gonna suck more money and give me the run around again. any suggestions?
thanks,

Use the keyword "overheat" or "overheating" and search the 01 - 05 Civic forum.
Based on your description, and from what I've read within other threads, my guess would be the head gasket.

I have the same problem, but its a 05 Civic EX-Special Edition With 90K+, and the dealership checked the head gasket and pistons and everything looked great, they said it is in perfect shape. I have it in the shop now trying to get it fixed. Ill let you know the outcome.

im also having the same issue and im going to change the radiator cap today see if it fixes the problem, everytime i open the cap i have pressure inside. im guessing air is getting in somehow.. doesnt seem to be the headgasket though as i dont have a sweet smell coming out the exhaust..

The cooling system is under pressure your suppose to have pressure inside it's air bubbles that cause a lot of problems. To solve this.....
First remove the radiator cap and start your car and let it run WATCH THE TEMP if you see your fluid in the radiator start to bubble That means you have air bubbles in your system that could be making it overheat. Let it run until it stops bubbling replace cap go for a drive if that didn't fix it then time to move on to the next step.

im bringing this alive again cuz i have the same problem on my sisters 02 ex. i changed radiator, thermostat, and water pump. and still over heated! help plz!!!
I'm having the same problem with an 04 ex sedan. Blows cold air, fans aren't working. Replaced head gasket, water pump, thermostat, and radiator. I even jumped the plug to get the fans working but still no go. Anyone figure this out ???
You hot-wired the radiator fan and it still didn't work? Replace the fan.
Have you flushed your heater core? Bled the system for air bubbles? All that stuff??
