Just wondering if there is any way to tell, just by looking at it, what model it is with out poping the hood?
There are no badges on the car either.
Thanks
Alex

Ok. There are several ways to tell.
1. Redline. S 6800, Si 7200, VTEC 8200 (OBDI cars)
2. Stock wheels/tires. S steelies w/hubcaps, Si alloys w/185 width tires, VTEC alloys w/195 width tires
3. Brakes. S has rear drums, Si 4-wheel disc w/9.5" fronts, VTEC 4-wheel disc w/10.3" fronts
4. VTEC has rear sway bar, Si not until 96, S not ever
5. Tranny. Auto is S or Si only
6. Passenger air bag. If none, then 93 model which means no VTEC model
Easiest is to look at redline though......

Ok heres the deal.
I couldnt see the red line.
But...
It has the 15" 5 spoke wheels (baby GSR's)
The tip on the exhaust is the same as 92-95 Civic Si
Was a 5 speed
I'll go back tonight and check the brakes
and bring a flash light to check the tach
Thanks Everyone

If you can look underneath the rear of the car, All Vtech models had the lower rear Tie Bar. Besides that and the TAC they are pretty much the same on the outsides, the Si's and Vtec's shared the same wheels a lot of the time.
ummm none of them came with tie bars. i think u mean SWAY bars. only on VTEC models and newer 96 Sis.
VTEC, not VTech (thats a phone)
edit:
boosted: the Sis came with all wheel disc brakes too, just that the VTEC brakes take up the whole space in the front. lots bigger.

exhaust...if it has no silver "tip" on it, it is an S model.
if it doesnt have rear disks, its an S model.
the VTEC sol's do not come in samba green, white or silver.

Ok, this is confusing. I have a 93 blue del sol si w/ d16z6. Isn't that a Vtec?
Yours is exactly like mine was......its a SOHC VTEC engine, but not the model labeled "VTEC"....that's a DOHC VTEC
Steve
If it is a late model sol and if you can crank it, check if the ABS light flashes on. If I remember right, dohc vtec models were the only ones with ABS. Everything else has been covered
krazy, my bad, that's what i meant to say originally, but wasnt 100% sure that the si's were all disk also.
also, vtec sols only came in granada black pearl, milano red, and like a forest green.

boosted: dont worry about it, im sure its a common mistake. the disc brakes on the rear of an si are small enough to not even notice anyway.
