i know some of you may laugh, but i'm not too del sol savvy(i own a civic hatchy), do all del sols come with rpm gauges reguardless if its an SI or not? my friend just got one and hes trying to figure if its an si or not, so please just a straight answer i just got off of work and don't really feel like dealing with someone whos not going to be helpful.

no i know internally, ihaven't gotten to look at it yet he's trying to explain it from an external point, like any certain markings, i.e-del sol si?

that's what he's saying.
Tell your friend to pop the hood. if the valve cover says vtec, it's an si (unless is says dohc vtec which will be the vtec model). Some of the si's just have a plain valve cover though so... tell him to look inside the rear wheels. If he sees black, it's got drums and is a S model. If it's silver then it's got discs and is an Si or vtec

Si - rear disc brakes, redline at 7200, engine code (D16Z6, and the valve cover doesn't have to say VTEC on it), VIN# (xxxEH6xxxxxxxxxxx), alloy wheels/rims
S - rear drum brakes, redline at 6400?, engine code (D15B7), VIN# (xxxEG1xxxxxxxxxxx), steelies/blackies

Also the SOHC VTEC models have the spark plugs in the front. Non-VTEC spark plugs are on the back side of the engine. Or it maybe the other way round. I would have to go look to be sure, and it is late and cold.
