Big trouble in little China, B18C wants to self destruct
I just finished building the bottom end on a JDM B18C (Not R). Got the motor in and started it and it just began to rev up, shut it down as fast as I could but it got to about 3.5k rpm before it shut down. Not good on the initial start up I know. Thats problem 1
Took a look at the intake and cannot find a leak, throttle cable is not hooked up so the butterfly is not open. Im going to get the multimeter out and check the TPS next.
2nd issue, sort of a big one. Took the spark plugs out and looked down the hole into the bore and the pistons all have hundreds of pin craters in the top of them, they were brand new so whatever happened, happened during the 4 seconds the car was running. Detonation? Why? Also, my buddy that sold me the car shell told me he extended the injector wires about 8 inches each. Nice of him to tell me now (should I punch him in the face?), but is that a bad thing because of resistance or something?
I set up the timing like haynes told me but I cant even run a timing light cause my pride and joy is going to grenade on me. Cels are ECT sensor and 02 (O2 is hooked up, must be a wrong wire pinned)

sounds like a massive air leak, check everywhere on the IM, all sensors, IACV, everything.
it may have gotten super lean because of a leak and been dettonating.

Upon taking off the intake mani I found some old gasket stuck to the block, got it off and it doesnt rev now. Starts and runds like **** lol but doesnt rev. Tested my TPS to get it to 45 v also. Now I just need to figure out why its running like crap, dies when gas is applied...Not getting fuel cause of the injector wire thing I think.
this and ignition timing are what i would check. the dizzy should be in the middle if you're just guessing before you get the light on it. also, you can only time these at 800rpm which comes on with the jumper jumped and the car at full operating temp.
