D16A6, SOHC ZC non-VTEC or DOHC ZC - you will need to convert from DPFI to MPFI for anything other than your D15

Replacing your D15 head with a vtec head would be easiest IMO.

If you ar ein for a new engine, then the D16A6.
It would be well worth your while to put a tad more effort into it and just for a D16Z6, D16Y8 or even a D15B7.
They would need the DPFI to MPFI conversion you are already looking at as well as an upgrade to OBD1.

The d16a6 is a straight drop in right? Don't even have to convert to mpfi if you don't want to?

its all up to him if he wants to convert it to mpfi, he can leave the dpfi intake manifold and not deal with the conversion. swaping anything other than a bigger displacement engine is something he mentioned 'doesnt cut it'. so all the d16's you guys said is not worth it in my opinion

I personally don't think D16A6 with DPFI manifold will give you much improvement since they are only 16 HP difference and if you use the DPFI system, you'll have less air flow compare to PM6 manifold....

just do the MPFI conversion, so you can have more upgrade opportunity in the future.

I don't want more power actually, I just want a motor that runs. My headgasket is going and the motor has 130k on it, I'm seeing d16a6's going for pretty cheap. I guess I could do the MPFI swap, but just theoretically, could I just drop it in with the DPFI setup?

Yes, you can drop it in and not worry about anything.

If you're going to reuse the DPFI manifold, you have nothing to worry... Just clean it up before you put in on the D16a6.
