Default USDM vs JDM

when it comes to a USDM or JDM gsr motor, is there a way to tell the difference by the code on the engine? if there is, is there a way to make a JDM engine code look like a USDM one?

Default Re: USDM vs JDM

99% of JDM engines that are available to us in the US have codes that go X00X (letter, number, number, letter).

USDM engine codes go X00X0 (letter, number, number, letter, number).

For example, B18C would be a JDM engine. B18C1 would be a USDM engine.

Trying to make a JDM engine code look like a USDM engine code... I doubt it would work in California. They're going to be looking for VINs anyway.

Oh, and what you're asking about is FRAUD.

People are going to totally freak out that you asked this because of how intimately the engine code is connected to a VIN and how easy it would be to perpetrate a sales fraud related to the sales of an NAM motor made to look like a JDM motor.

It's just not a good idea.

Even if you're not being flamed right now, the flames are on the way.
