Default Installing gauges and dimmer is weird

I installed my autometer boost, oil pressure, and water temp today. I thought I did everything right but when I turned on the dash lights my gauges werent lit up. When I started to turn the dimmer down my gauges started to go up:S. There are 3 wires on the dimmer red, red/black, and black. Tried both the red and the red and black and nothing. One just keeps them lit and the other one screws up the dimmer.

Is there another way to splice into it?

sorry i can't answer your question but where did you get your gauges and how much. My car came with a pod on it so i would like to get gauges to fill it. I don't really care to much the quality of the gauges as long as they work fine.

the dimmer red/black wire dims the negative not the positive wire so switch them at the gauges and you'll be fine.
