new walbro pump question

new walbro pump question
I just ordered a new walbro fuel pump from ERZ performance and when i took off the cap clear fluid came out. The clear fluid smelled like terpintine or maybe gasoline. Is this normal? Only thing i could see is terpintine to keep the gears inside from rusting. Or maybe used pump?
