GSR swap... Factory intake??
I'm swapping a b18c1 gsr motor into my 98 civic hatch. I want to use a factory airbox/intake. I was thinking of using the Civic Si one. Will that work? Or should I use a different one?
not unless you put on a skunk 2 intake(same style as si). The gsr manifold is diff and the throttlebody sits lower so it wont line up. I have a 99 si stock intake on my 99 civic with gsr with the skunk/blox maniflod and it fits perfect and looks all oem.
Your options are limited with the gsr manifold as the dc/eg and the ek chassis are different so a stock gsr intake box the bolts probably won't line up properly. never tried though so im not sure.

hmm.. well I guess I could cut the aem intake I have and use it for now. It's a cai from a gsr but it's bent becuase the car was in a wreck. Should be able to make it work somehow though.
You can make it work. I used a short ram for a Civic Si on a GSR with Factory manifold. Wasn't perfect but it was functional. But like B18cKoupe said, an aftermarket manifold really opens up your options. I have the Skunk2 IM on it now and the Si intake works perfect.
the aftermarket intake also gives you better performance over a gsr intake which IMO isnt the greatest from factory. Do something similar to what he said ^^^ and im sure you wont have any complaints. S2, Edlebrock Victor X or AEBS would be the top choices.
