Default Car in front Suddenly brakes, cause me to hit him.

well.. pretty much, light was green, car infront of me goes, but all the sudden after he hits like 12 mph, he slams on the brakes for his dear life. i was a good distance but didnt react in time, and had to hit him.

now my car is all f'ed up and everyone is pointing the finger at me..

can anyone tell me what can i do to get out of this. im not at fault but then again it looks like im at fault.

any advice on how to deal with insurance company so i am not liable?

I agree with previous post. At only 12mph (and that would mean you should have been even slower), you shouldn't have had any chance of hitting, unless you either weren't paying attention or were following way too close (something I do too much).

Unless the car in front is missing brake lights. That's about the only way to claim his fault.

Eh, man up to the screw up and move on. Cars can be fixed.

Ditto the above, the fault is yours, if you run into the back of someone, it is your fault, no matter what.
The only exception is if the other driver was backing up, then it is his/her fault, no matter what. 94

Same as above, you rear-ended the other car, unless they had changed lanes when unsafe to do so or some other situation, it is your responsibility to maintain a safe following distance so you can stop in time if need be. Lesson learned, move on.

It happens, that's why you have to drive defensively. You never know what the other a**hole in front of you is going to do.

Did you have any warning, what happened in the minutes before this ? Was there anything that happened between you and the other car previous to this ?

ehh you guys are missing my point..

he slammed on his brakes...

now its a civic.. light weight, and can stop very easily.. its a 4dr 2000 civic..

i drive a g35 rougly about 3800 pounds.. it can stop but not as fast as that civic..

his tires screeched when he braked..

tires screeching doesn't mean he can stop better. he lacks abs.

your g35 probably can outbrake the civic. a 03 g35 can do 60-0 in under 120ft. a 00 civic si coupe takes 150ft.

you rear ended him, your fault. next time don't follow so closely.
