Default brake smell?

hey everyone i just drove to the mountains and just got back, anyways my car smelle like burnt rubber. im guessing it is either my tires or my brakes, but i think its my brakes. anyone have any idea y this happen? im pretty sure its my brakes though because on my way down i had like no brake, i hadda push down really hard just to slow down a tiny bit so i was braking really early and people were passing me up. anyone know y this happen? and will it just go away after a couple of hours or am i going to have to replace my brakes?

yeah man, your always on the brakes in the mountains. Thats why you want to use a lower gear if you can.

Go Wolves!!
They could just do it man!

its probably from your brakes heating up from using them so much... do what the other guy and use a lower gear if you can... also if you're driving and start to smell that you should usually pull over to let your brakes cool off

you over heated the brakes, when brakes heat up they are much less responsive. especially under heavy loads and steep inclines aka mountains. definitly use a lower gear and if that happens again let the brakes cool off. high heat also damages brake components.

I agree its brakes overheating. And if youre gonna be drivin the mountains alot you might wana consider a brake upgrade. Such as better rotors and pads. That way you dont loose the brakes for good next time.
