Default Successful feeling after DIY install...

Nope, no pictures since my camera was out of batteries, but I'm sure it would have been something that most of you have seen before anyway.

Anyway, just wanted to gloat about my first big DIY on the R. I just finished doing a set of H&R sport springs on my 01. It took roughly 3 hours. My guide throughout the project was my friend Jack (who I don't think posts on here) and he was very patient and explained EVERY single step through the whole process.

The ride feels the same as stock to me, which is great. I was hoping to stay comfortable. Appearance: it looks maybe 1 inch lower all around.

Just the springs for now, but now that I know how, I might consider the shocks as well.

I'm actually amazed at how easy everything was...

Congratulations - it always feels good to do it yourself.

Flux- who wonders if he will be able to do suspension pieces himself...

congrats! I myself am running the H&R springs as well, and did the install myself. It definitely is a gratifying feeling doing it yourself, especially if it goes smoothly and there are no problems afterwards.

If you did the header install yourself, I'm pretty sure you can.

Suspension is very straight forward, if you got eyes you can figure it out (spring compressor helps too )

DIY is the best. I totally F*cked up my first spring install like 4 yrs ago. took apart all teh suspension components (didn't know the short way), AND dislocated the inner CV joint. Total time: 2 days.

Now I can do it in like 30mins to an hours. just 4 bolts on each side.

You really don't need it to do any springs as long as you got some ***** and some room to "shoot" the spring off Getting them on (if they are longer then stock) is a different story

Well true, but they are REALLY NOT NEEDED at all for a hype-arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. and only needed with OEM springs, even H&R OE Sports can be installed without a compressor.

edit: me makey make a supah we-todd-did mistakey stake.

You could always use the car as a compressor too

2 get back on topic... Successful feeling after a DIY can go away really fast when something breaks 10 miles after you put it all back together

Thanks All...

So far, so good. I think I put it all back together the right way. I didn't need a compressor since the springs are so damn short anyway. When I took off the top nut I just pointed it away from me and in a box, just in case, and I also used an open ended wrench. All went well though and nothing went flying. All in all, a pretty easy job, especially for a first time effort.

Much thanks to Jack for his help and advice and thanks to King Motorsports for getting me the springs fairly quickly...
