Default Dizzy/spark question

I have been working on my car for what feels like forever. I've come to the conclusion that i either have a bad block (compression) or my distributor is starting to go. I have replaced my cap and rotor, wires and plugs. Slight improvement, but overall my car still runs like ****.

The other day though, I stopped at my friends house and we were looking at it, and while the engine was running, he pulled off a plug wire. Normally a proper running car would bog down or something when you do that. Well, mine did not. We both were kinda shocked. so he went and pulled off another. We went from right to left (if ur looking at it) We traced them back to the dizzy and pulled them from there instead of on top of the engine. Anyways, far right one was first, no change when pulled. Second, no change. third, no change. Finally, on the last one, when he pulled that one, the car almost died. It sputtered and struggled to stay on. Now, I've never had a honda dizzy go bad on me, but does that sound like its my distributor going out? Or do I have bigger problems? I need to know asap. I'm almost out of hair. Thanks.

well, i found a dizzy for 25 bucks. i'm gonna try that. then if that don't help, then i'll do a compression test. i hear you can rent the tool for like 20 bucks at most auto part stores.

but if anyone else has come across this thread and has any other possible ideas, feel free to throw them out there.

You can buy a compression tester for like $20.00 at most auto part stores.

I'm betting the dizzy won't make a change. Good Luck.

Most dizzy's cause other type problems.

Let us know what fix's it...

You sure the firing order is correct? Yeah def sounds like you got a blown cylinder, get the compression tester on there and let us know.

figured it out. i got busy today and started wrenching. i picked up a dizzy for 20 bucks from someone on here and no difference. so i looked around (aka, stopped being lazy) for my compression checker. found it. and went down the line. all matched up except for one. .. my third one, if ur looking at it, from left to right. take off the cam cover, to look around. I thought i had a bad head gasket, and low and behold i had a broken rocker arm just chilling there. so i pulled it out, and the chunk of it that had fallen out, (luckily it didnt make its way down a valve). so, now tomorrow i am picking up a rocker arm from someone who has a head layin around, hopefully i can get it on there without too much effort. i want to drive this damn thing already.
