Speedometer stopped working.
Yet another problem with my Honda Accord. Seems to never end :/
Today I was driving to work, and I was going past one of those speedometer reading signs that police put up. It said I was going 33 mph. I looked at my speedometer and it read 19 mph.
I kept driving and it would not move any high than 22 mph. I went faster, and it finally popped up above 30 and back down. Then it started to begin working correctly.
I am not sure what is causing this, but I called O'Reilly's Auto and they said it probably isn't a speed sensor, but that I need a new Speedometer Head from a salvage yard.
Does anyone possibly know what could be causing this problem. Most people say its the speed sensor.

I think it is the VSS from what I have researched. Is there a particular place or site online/offline to buy a good VSS for a cheaper price than over 100 bucks?
Also: I don't have an AMP. We did flush and change the transmission fluid about 2 weeks ago though.

Well, you didn't post what year, trim level, etc. you have; so, I can't be sure of all the types indicator lights you might have. However, if you don't have a Check Engine Light or a blinking "S" light, or a blinking "D4" light, then it probably has to do with the speedometer and not the VSS.
I have a 1992 Honda Accord DX. There is no check engine light blinking, or D$ light blinking. Does that mean it is the VSS? It is doing it every now and then now. Sometimes the speedometer works, sometimes it doesn't.
It means that is probably is not the VSS and may be the speedometer.

Well, I've have never purchased a used instrument gauge for a 4th gen Accord or taken it apart. I have done it for a 5th gen Accord and bought one used for $35. The 5th gen Accord is a piece of cake to change.
From looking at the parts diagram for your year, it looks different. The counter assembly (odometer, etc.) seems to be a separate part on your year (whereas on the 5th gen, it was part of the speedometer). It looks like you probably can keep the same odometer mileage if you can figure out to disassemble the instrument gauge. It does look doable though.
Otherwise, you can change the whole thing as a whole and go with the different mileage.

Alright. Where did you get that picture? That is a great help to me. I will have to figure out what is going on. My odometer is still working, so I would like to keep it.
Any sites or places I can find more diagrams like these?
