need some help overheat issue
hey guys well first off this is my set up i just bot built umm i would say about 3k ago ran it na for probably 1k and rest boosted light on base map...but never ever gave it full throtal or anything......
d16z6
arp head studs tq to 76ft/p
eagle rods
srp 9-1 pistons
new oil pump
thought the water pump was good my mistake put the used one on i think.. :S
stock head
y8 manifold drilled four holes for vacume source
ebay intercooler and bov...
miniram manifold and a 60trim turbo... sorry if i for got anything that might help...
but my problem is that well first off my fan was not kidding on what so ever...on my s300 it would say it was getting 215 or so.. and the check engine light would come on... but i would have never new if i didnt look at the s300 cuz my gauge was not even to the half but then i wire the fan strait to the bat.... and i would do a third gear pull during my street tune at 8 pounds or so and as soon as i left off we could watch the temp just go up up up.....but then in a min or so would just go right back down... and i could drive at normal speed and be just fine never over heat up too much at all then i go to the dyno...and i was like shoot i gotta fix this first...so i was going out still doing the same thing.. so i felf my lower rad hose and it felt cold..and didnt have pressure... like the thermo was bad i just put a brand new one in...so i popped the rad cap and let it run and run.. no bubble and it never got back to the lower side.... so i took it out again and sure enough it heated up but i came back and the lower rad had pressure.. just was not really hot dont know if cuz the fan was blowing on it....but ya... so thinking my water pump is maybe bad... or the thermo was bad... but i decided to take out the thermo to tune on the street....and of course it can barrly get to op temp but i was tuning anyways and it will still go up in temp after i boost a bunch...never gets toooo hot now.. but will still bring the temp of after a few continious pulls...... any ideas?
i have red a few things where peoples heads were lifting....but i have head studs and there is no oil in the water or water in the oil....
BTW runnign about 11-15 maxpsi for some reason my boost is creep up on me.. :

damn for real!!!!!!!!!!! aaaahhh before i even pulled out the thermo when it wasnt warmed back up i pulled out that bleeder! and there wasnt any real pressure there and i kept letting it warm up and adding any water that come out.. and normally all my honda's been easy to get any air out! and my oil water is not mixing waht so ever and no los in power or anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :SSSSS
anyone think i should try to re tq the head studeds to 80 like i here alot of single cam guys are doing......
anyone guyessing water pump or bad thermo.. even though the thermo was new!
i will save changing the gasket for last cuz i fi do that i am taking it off and resurfacing it and new valve seals and guids so i never take that bitch off again! haha

Don't rig stuff man.. You have a nice setup, make it all work.
Wire your fan up correctly and get a aftermarket radiator. Make sure air is getting to the radiator going past, or up and over the intercooler.
Your ect's will rise after doing repeated pulls but if you make a few things more efficient it should never get that high.
If you can watch your temps rise very quickly during a pull then you probably are lifting the head.
If you are lifting the head you need to remove the head and take it to a machine shop and have it checked for flatness.
I would suggest using some spray copper on the next oem head gasket and tqin your head studs to 80-85ft/lbs with the moly lube.

alright ya i just rigged that up so i didnt wast my money with the street tune! and i am getting intercooler pipe set up in a couple days and as for the fan i jsut got to see if the fan switch is bad or what made it not turn on.... and damn thats weird... that the head was lifting but it could very well be that is was not flat cuz i had had it on anotherblock tiwce...:S i am going to try a new waterpump cuz i didnt replace that with the build it was the only thing... and put my thermo back in and stuff its it is still doing it. i will take my head off and have it milled and valves recut and nea seals and stuff and do it all the first time :S but thanks for the idea's i really didnt wantt o hear head liftin :S haha but i am going to try to re tq head bolts some more around 80 like everyone seems to be doing
hey i also think that rad cap is junk cuz its has no spring in it what so ever oro anything so its probably not holding any presure. would this cause it not to flow to the lower rad hose... and not really open the termo and stuff?
