94 accord fog lights stopped working help?
yesterday my fogs were working great, but when i left the movies they did not want to turn on.......i was pissed so today i checked the fuse and the wiring and everything seems to be in order so can it be the switch??
Check the connections (where the harnesses connect). Maybe something got loose. CHeck back of plug, recheck the fuse (pull out and look over, maybe ever replace to make sure it's not fuse) check wires going into back of lights. Any place the wires might rub against metal? Possible the jacket got clipped and they shorted? Any break in wires?
yeah i checked the connection, i changed the fuse the wires connected to the lights are in place, i basically redid the whole thing again, no breaks in wires. one thing i noticed is that the switch it struggles to be pushed in, could that have anything to do with it, it never did that before, i noticed right now that it only clicks from the left side
Most fog lights will use a relay in the circuit, as the relay is to use a low amperage circuit (for example the switch) to trigger a device on a high amperage circuit (the fog lights). A relay also is for safety reasons.
Since you don't have a relay, it is very possible the switch is burned out from the higher current.

yeah because i have the oem fog lights and the oem switch just the wiring was done with a autozone kit......is it possible to add a relay to that type of wiring?
try jumpering the switch if the lights come on it is the switch, dont leave it that way with out the fuse protection, also you can test the lights by temping them straight to the battery to see if they still work agian dont leave them that way. Alot of times the interal part of a switch can go bad, or get fried. I would also get a 12v tester to see what is getting and giving power. cost like 3 dollars at your local auto store saves lots of headache when you are wiring.
well since you have a aftermarket wiring harness i dont think my info will help you as it only pertains to the factory wiring and relays and fuses.
good luck
good luck
Ah aftermarket harness, dunno what to tell ya.
The OEM ones have a relay, as do the DEPO. Those can go bad and cause the lights not to work.

do they even sell the harness by itself? thats one of the reasons i went aftermarket on the harness because i was not able to find one
yes you can put a relay in. they work like this, it is basically a switch that get turned on or off by a different circut, so if you had say 30amp lights you would run a 30 amp curcuit though the relay like a switch and to the lights. then you run a normal say 10 amp crcuit to a switch in the car Say toggle or the factory one, to the realy. When the the relay get a voltage(power) from it the switch, it turns the relay closed and the lights come on. but there is only 10 amps persay going though the switch( not firing it)
that sucks I dont know if you can fix that one but if every thing else still works normal you can just use a cheaper toggle switch from your auto parts store, My guess would be that you cant fix that one, switchs are usually made to be thrown away when they break. good luck.
yeah thats what i did ,i put one of those switches on.......its just for now i hope, but ill eventually buy another one....but thanks for your help
That should be an easy fix, all of the parts you need are available to you at any electronic store like Radio Shack, probably Best Buy, and also the Auto stores. GL
