Default Can Crome IGN maps for the P13 be trusted?

Hi

I have a Neptune RTP in a USDM P72 ecu running my 92-96 Prelude VTEC. I started with a Integra GSR base map and took it to the dyno. There I had the fueling sorted and the high cam ignition map tweaked to get me a bit more power than the baseline run. We gained about 10bhp peak.
Since then I have had an engine swap to a UK Accord Type-R H22A7 motor and close-ratio gearbox(LSD). It still drives ok with the base map, but I think its weak in the 3000-5000rpm range before vtec, and not as strong in vtec as it should be. So I am looking at the ignition maps again more closely. They haven't changed much from the GSR maps at all.

However, as there is are no P13 base maps readily available I looked at the Hondata S300 Prelude calibration it ships with, and found this is roughly a direct copy of the EDM P13-G00-C3 ignition maps from the Crome P13 bins which can be found. I assume there are many H22A's out there running with these Hondata base maps quite ok. So this must mean the Crome P13 ignition maps are pretty close to the factory P13 ecu. Before anyone says it, I know the fuel tables and map pressures are all to **** in these crome maps, but the ignition tables resemble the ones in the Hondata Prelude basemap.

If I compare the Crome bins for a stock rom 269 and 273 with the ones shipped with my Neptune RTP they are identical! So crome ignition tables must be compatible with my Neptune RTP.

So I have made a Neptune RTP base map using the ignition maps from the Crome P13 bins. I want to know if 1. Anyone else tried this? 2. Do the ignition tables look safe?

You should be fine. I would suggest making sure you sync your distributor timing to your engine management.

I would also suggest you back the high cam ignition values down 1-2 degrees until you put the car on a dyno.

Thanx. I have sync'd my distributor timing with the ecu using the "lock ignition at" option in Neptune RTP. I had it set to 15 and timed it to the centre mark on the flywheel (15) of the three.

The only thing I worry about with the crome bin is the area in the high cam ign maps in the first columns where the ign timing is max'd out to over 50.75*. In Neptune the highest value I can input is 46.75. But between 3000rpm and 5300rpm the first 5 columns are 50,49,48,46,43 in the Crome maps.

Does the ign timing matter under deceleration? Can it cause damage? Will it ever go into this part of the map? How do you tune deceleration timing?
