Single layer head gasket help
I've been hearing of people run just one layer of their oem head gaskets to bump up compression. I was wondering how well these seal & which gasket & layer to use. I'm also keeping the block stock(no overbore). I figured copper spraying a single layer would give me some oil leak insurance. I'm currently running a stock JDM B16A3 and am planning on doing an ITR head swap with Portflow titanium retainers, Portflow stiffened inner springs, ITR outer springs all around, & CTR cams. I'm not looking to make outrageous hp/tq #'s just want to do a mild build that is a fun, leak free daily driver, streetable, & reliable. I don't plan on going too high on the rpm's the most the engine will see is probably low to mid 8k range. I've done a build on Zealautowerks.com (I know this is only a general estimate build calculation) & it gave me a 11:1 cr with a single layer .009" gasket setup & a piston to deck height of .022" clearance. I plan on running a chipped/basemapped ecu to start with & tune a bit later. Also I need to know what fuel pressure, fuel pump, & injectors are best for this setup. Anything else that I might be neglecting, please let me know. Your input is greatly appreciated!
