my buddy's got a 94 civic that the tranny is going out in, question is, will a 96-00 sohc automatic tranny bolt up to his motor? thanks

 

Convert it! Single can trannys are dirt cheap. You van get the pedal assembly and hydros from a wrecking yard and the whole for the clutch master is allready in the firewall. You just have to buy the trans mount.

as long as it's the same engine block it should go on fine though. I believe that those cars have the same mounts.

 

i know it will bolt up fine, but i'm not sure about plugging up easily. the auto is controlled by the ECU. in this case, you'd have an OBD-II trans with an OBD-I motor and ECU.

possible, but not practical. you'll have fewer problems converting to manual.

 

They are both auto? It will bolt up just fine. You'll have some wiring to do though. Not gonna give you more problems than converting it to manual. If the OP is asking this then a manual conversion probably isn't gonna be a walk in the park for him.

 

It bolts up, It wont work from an electrical perspective. Find a '92 - '95 M24A or A24A automatic tranny.

 

dude, no offense, i could do the manual conversion, done it before...my friend has no want to have a manual, just wanted to know for sure if it would bolt up because i wasnt sure

 

It doesn't offend me at all. LOL. I just figured that it was pretty common knowledge around here that d series = d series.

 

and i understand that..i was just wondering about the obd1 obd2 issues if there were any
