Default CTR pulley...OEM better?

So after praising my CTR pullet for over 2.5 years, i finaly had an oil pump shatter on me. I dont know if it was the pully for sure, but i am revving the motor to 9000. My question is would i be better off using an OEM crank pulley? Im just so unsure at this point and searches have revealed nothing but arguments back and forth.

my pump for posterity.

Damn. Thats some carnage.. the CTR has no dampening in it so it would just transfer any harmonics to the pump.. I would say go with an OEM or ati/fld.

I have an H22. They are known for shattering oil pump gears. When I turboed mine, I used the OEM balancer and Pro Drive gearing. If you decide to use a non OEM unit, see if you can find records of tests on aftermarket harmonic balancers. Some of the results were interesting.

Did you do anything maintenance wise to the pulley or anything with in those two and a half years, i just bought the same pulley and i am hoping that it will hold up if properly maintained. i have yet to see rubber on a stock pulley to indicate a Harmonic Balancer... i had to use 2 blocks to complete my build both came with stock pulley's on and neither had any rubber i went to Honda to order a brand new one and it was the exact same. Is the rubber inside or something????

that had to hurt tho, i completely agree that that blows hardcore.

Sorry for all the questions but i have to ask. How did it hold up for those 2.5 years it was on? was this car a DD? how many miles did you drive on that pulley? was there any warning that it was going it did it just explode? where did you get it from? how many belts did you have hooked up to it, 3? 2? 1?

Thanks

It's not really about how much mileage the car has... It has more to do with the amount of power the engine is making as well.

A CTR crank pulley and factory oil pump gear can last probably 10 years if it was running at 200 WHP and 4 PSI of boost for example. It may only last one pull if it was making 400 WHP instead.

Thanks for the explanation Tony, i am just trying to get numbers for statistics you know what i mean covering all ends. i am looking at boosting 15lbs and have 325Whp according to the tuning shop that ordered most of my parts. i just dont want to lose an engine dude to a pulley

Thanks
