Default Boost and CTR crank pulley, any problems???

Basically I want to know if there is a down side to the CTR crank pulley in a booster gsr motor. I have heard that the pulley will kill the oil pump in a boosted car, and I have also heard that it is great. Experienced builders and tuners please chime in.

Thanks

in time your oil pump will come apart.
only way to go is ati or fluidampr,
i chose the fluidampr.

Personal experience tuning a car. Made 280whp. No problems. Switched to a large T4 turbocharger. Last pull street tuning. Oil pump gear shattered. I know numerous people that have had the same happen. Has nothing to dampen

That is what I figured. A friend has it on his b20 and he has had no issues so far, but I guess it would be difficult to diagnose a shattering oil pump.

Put it this way, I put a CTR pulley on my turbo Si Friday night, and Saturday night the car was getting towed home. The oil pump gear looked like someone beat it with a hammer. Destroyed the block and the head. Keep the stock pulley, a $100 crank pulley is not worth a new motor. Just my experience, love it or hate it.

CTR pulley FTL, study engines and why they have harmonic balancers and you'll not use a CTR

Sorry to hear about that. I bought the pully for NA purposes but I have only had it for like 100 miles and 1year on the car, if that since I do not drive my car. I read several years ago the problems with boost and the ctr pulley but I was getting alot of conflicting info.

ANyway, why would honda use this on their ctr if it is such a problem for both NA and boost?

Its not a stock part. Its an aftermarket RACE part used on the CTR endurance cars, that get rebuilt after every race. Hence "CTR N1" pulley.

haha r u retarded it doesnt matter what motor the unbalanced ctr pully and the harmonics will destroy the bottom end of a motor. theres on endyns site about it with there 2.0l 300hp n/a b series motor.

if you're replying to my question it's an ITR crank pulley. which is smaller and lighter than a b18b crank pulley.

and i'm not even going to negatively react to your name calling

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure that I was doing the right thing. I really do not want to mess my motor up as it is pretty f-ing clean and spoiled.

I just blew an oil pump gear its my second one and all it can be is the crank pulley.
Going back to the stock harmonic dampner.

you still need something to absorb the harmonic frequencies.

Visit the ati & fluidamper site good info
