Sorry for the noob question, but I am really out of the loop nowadays with ecu tuning. I have an '88 Accord with a N/A LS/Vtec running off a chipped obd0 PR3 and VAFC. I am now converting to OBD1. I was going to use a Hondata s200 w/ a p28 but after talking with a local tuner he recommended crome.

My biggest issue is that I can no longer get the car to pass emissions in the current format. So, I basically need a tune to get me through emissions and then another tune to maximize my engine. Costs are a factor so the emissions tune needs to be done on the street.

The local tuner has worked with s300 system but does not do the s200. There is a Hondata tuner in CT listed on the Hondata site as well as one listed on this forum. would I be better off going with them?

I understand both have their pros and cons, but I guess I am looking for a little insight on which would be a better route to go. the crome website was not as helpful as I had hoped.

 

Your tuner does not tune the s200 system because he does not have the romeditor license.

If you can choose between crome or hondata, hondata would be the ideal choice.
Other options I would recommend include ectune, neptune & hondata s300.

Upgrading to S300 would be the best. Most tuners that tune crome to not know how far off crome handles the timing.

Like john said, run hondata, ECtune, or neptune
