Why does it rattle??? my piping is 2.25 and its bolted tight as hell all throughout the car!!!! (93 civic si)

how could I find and fix this problem, peoples??? let me know

do you have a short shifter? maybe its with the linkeges, or something...i head that something like that was common..someone correct me...

 

i have a dc short shifter...but what do u mean??? is that the cause of the irritating noise??? let me know more...

no..i've just heard that sometimes when you install short shifters, that when you bolt it up, theres a chance something, like the linkages become off, and thats what rattles against your piping..or maybe the piping of the exaust is the one thats off and thats rattling against the part of the shifter...thats what i think may be the problem...hope this help somewhat.

i dont think its the short shifter, its the heat sheild from the cat(bolted on the chassis) i have that problem with mines but my exhaust is too loud to hear it now since i have my silencer off.....

 

clap clap clap. the heat shield always rattels. beat it with a hammer, or take it off. but its funner to beat it with a hammer i think.

 

This is just a thought, but I found out I had a small leak between the down pipe & the cat. I thought I had my ish sealed up tight too, till I found that. $5 gasket cured it though. (Of course I found this out after I destroyed my heat shields trying to trace the source of mt rattle ) Ah, what the hell- weight savings

 

hell yeah. next you need some chrome go fast. (chrome spray paint does wonders)

 

I have a slight rattle on the gasket that is between the header and cat. Costs about $10 from Honda and is a "crush" gasket type.
