Icon6 Best shock/spring combo, searched

Okay, i keep finding dead links and unavailable pictures...
I have a 89 CRX HF and when i bought it, it was slammed to around 2 inches from the ground. looked great, drove like crap.

I finally got tired of bouncing around and i swapped the tokico blues/skunkworks set with an OEM set from a 4 door EF.

it drives like a dream but it stands like a freaking rally car. i have like 6 inches of gap between the bottom of the fenders and top of the tires.

i wanna know if its a good idea to keep the blues and get like neuspeed springs or something. I would probably have to extend the shock travel but i rather stay away from all that.

Is in a good idea to keep the blues and add springs or just buy both now?

can someone please let me know the best shock/spring combo they know of?
your help is greatly appreciated

I won’t bash, but buy Koni/GC.

My buddies Integra is on blues with gc's and it rides better then his brother Civic on koni/gc combo. Granted the Civic handles better but is rough when you hit even a little bump. If you want a smooth ride I say blues/gc. If you want it to handles well then use something more along the lines of the koni/gc combo.

kyb agx are a good buy, and adjustable. good shocks.
neuspeed sportline springs are nice - not that stiff, but lowers enough usually.

Okay, apreciate the feedback.

One question, though:
how can i ride smooth with the blues but handle better with koni? you mean like around corners?

Blues really aren't that good a shock, but better then anything Keep Ya Bouncing sells.

Step up to the whites, or a Koni product.

Get a GC kit or just springs and be set.

Not all good handling cars ride poorly they ride firm, firm is NOT harsh.

GC stands for ground control right? is that just a set of springs or coil overs?

Yes gc is a term for ground control, it's a sleeve coil over, it's the only one on the market anymore that really fits a koni shock correctly or is worth a damn.

They allow you to choose rates to suit your needs as well.

My bad, I just searched and found out its a coil over kit.
Why should i go for the GC kit instead of the skunk2?
Are they that much better?

Now I would back GC, even more so if you plan on running a koni, many years ago i'd have backed Skunk2s setup.

Since so many people run a koni/gc combo thats why GC is more liked. Konis don't sit correctly in a S2 anymore it's a shame.

Correct.
Blues don't have a problem fitting in skunk2. If your desire is to keep the current shock.

Remember dampers do more then springs on control of ride "feel"

What part the shocks or the coil overs?

dialing in an adjustable shock takes practice to understand but tons of info, and seat time is free

adjusting GC/S2 coil overs is not really even worth bringing it up it's simple. Both systems have been trouble free for many people for many years.

Okay so here is what i would like:
my car to be lower than stock
NOT to be bouncy
this will be a daily driver and not a race only car
I need to find out what the best combo is for my needs.
however, spending 300 dlls in coil overs is not much of an option
i need to know what works best for the shocks i have OR
a combo set thats less than 300
any ideas?

I used to have Blue sprint springs on stock shocks and it dropped me almost 2 inches. was very comfortable. More comfortable than my current setup, which consists of Koni yellow with omni power coil overs.

if you want comfort, do not do adjustable coils, from my experience...
GC are still rough... even if they are good.

This may help you, we started an official EF suspension thread so you can see height of the car, what kind of springs/spring rates and shock combos.

you could always get Tien lowering springs. they arent coil overs so they will be more comfy that a sleeve type.

since your on a budget, stick with tokico blues or whites. or even the kyb's. Koni's are a little bit more the pricey side but good from what i've heard.

no one mentioned this yet, but the lower you go, the worse your ride will be. if you wanted GC's and can afford like $500...hear me out...

get the GC sleeve type coil over for $299 from most places. (if you wanted GC/Koni set up, you have to get the Koni specific GC's, which go for around $350) then get the GC Extended Top Hats. They are the top mounts needed for all types of shocks, but they ONLY FIT GC COIL OVER SPRINGS.

ur car will still be dropped to your liking, but the extended mounts will give you more shock travel = stock ride height quality comfort, but still get the drop.

so thats my two cents.
