Default Tranny/LSD Question?

anyone know any cheap or easy short cuts to locking in both wheels to act as an LSD? Alot of guys i race with, mainly neons, somehow weld there gears or sumthing in the tranny. Was wondering if anyone knew of a way i could do this with my tranny without messing it up. We dont race for alot and try to keep the cost of the cars and parts down so im not trying to spend an arm and a leg for a legit LSD.

I wouldn't recommending welding gears on a car that's being driven on the street.

If you have someone who's willing to open up the gearbox and put the LSD in, an OEM Honda Torsen axle doesn't cost that much. I think the one in my DC2 K20A track car was $350.

Oh. I didn't realise you were on a dirt track.

A Honda "Torsen" axle is a gear driven LSD. It works throttle on, but not throttle off.

I remeber the first time you mentioned the Torsen Axle and it sounded like a good idea, so I called the local Honda dealership and they had no idea what I was talking about lol. They kept saying, "so you need new axles son?"

If the dealership is on Honda's short list and/or staffed with enthusiasts, they'll instantly know what you're talking about.

You can poke around eBay and other places looking for the OEM Torsen axle (LSD) out of a DC5 ITR, and it'll work just fine. This would be cheaper than the alternatives like Quaife, and clutch types like Kaaz.

Sweet. Yeah honestly I think that dealership I called was staffed with a bunch of nubs because I literally had 11 of my friends that worked there as techs and in detail and when the owner's other dodge dealership went bankrupt he fired a bunch of his Honda employees which were all the techs but one, WTF.

The Torsen axle is a limited slip differential, not really an axle. It is gear driven like a Quaife. It's not a clutch pack like the Kaaz. They almost never wear out.

It comes off of a JDM DC5 ITR, some ROW DC5 ITR, and it was optional on some EP3 CTR models in Germany and the United Kingdom.

The 2006+ Civic Si sold in the USA has a Torsen axle, but I don't know if it fits in the earlier gearbox housings.
