Default First build

What is the best/easiest build for a noob to learn about internals and how to install them and whatnot?

My first Honda build/rebuild was my current LS/VTEC but some might say that it might be a bit much If your just beginning. It wasnt hard to me, considering all the info out there about it now.

Any SOHC Non VTEC would probably be the easiest for a beginner to play around with.

In saying that, building any Honda engine will take the same amount of learning to do it properly. SOHC, DOHC, VTEC or non VTEC, the theory of how everything works and goes together is basically the same for all Honda engines. The specs may differ between them all. That's what the Honda shop manual spec pages are for. These shop manuals also have descriptions on what and where everything is and explains how it all works.

You may need two Honda shop manuals
1. for the engine you are building (shop manual for the car the engine came out of), and
2. for the car your putting it in. (If your doing a swap)

I was thinking about getting a B16A2 then getting an EK and swapping the motor in there. Full internals on the B16. NA no turbo for this build. What all would I need? My goal is to make over 210 whp. Specific parts please. For the tranny, I wanna rebuild it with new gears, LSD, Clutch, Flywheel, all the good stuff. Help me out please!

I'm not going to give you a grocery list of parts you need. And I'm not sure too many other people are going to jump all over that ether. Part's lists and swap info is all over the internet. You said that you wanted to learn internals. So start doing some research on what it is you want to do. Learn for yourself what parts work with what.

Cheers

You'll never get there with a B16. Don't take it as an insult.....but you're not going to build a B16 w/ > 200 WHP right out of the box....just not gonna happen....Sorry

Read that thread & articles on this page first: http://www.team-integra.net/sections...les.asp?Show=1 THEN read the https://honda-tech.com/forums/all-motor-naturally-aspirated-44/official-all-motor-dyno-thread-1583606/ .....get an idea of how things work and what things have worked for people.....come back after you've read that and have a rudimentary understanding of how an engine works....how certain changes change the engine's performance. THEN, decide what you're going to want to use the engine for (select a REALISTIC HP goal and powerband)....and use your knowledge of what works & how some mods affect the engine to come back and ask some educated questions.

We'll probably see you back in a couple weeks
