Default ctr cams in factory ls-v

now im hearing mixed opinions on running ctr cams in a ls-v setup. to be honest the head isnt factory its port n polish w/dual core springs. now im not sure if there will be clearance issues with my factory b18a block. i hear there will, i also there wont be. does anyone have this setup and not have any problems?

Instead of hearing things, how about a search of the all-motor dyno/the 1.8L build/RS machine spec build threads.

There are plenty of dyno's with stg 1 and stg 2 cams in LS-Vs. Go look in the all motor dyno thread at the top of the forum. BTW stg 1 cams have more lift and duration that CTR/ITR cams.

should be fine. theres tons of dynos with ctr cams in ls/v setups. works great. especially if using stock b18a pistons you should have no problem at all. given that everything was built within specs.

I think what you are afraid of is the valve reliefs for the stock ls pistons are too small for vtec valves. You will be fine with ctr's as long as you leave the factory cam gears on or have aftermarket ones set at 0 for intake and exhaust cam. You mention the head is built so make sure it isn't milled too much as well.

Correction.
Advancing the intake cam from zero or retarding the exhaust cam from zero will get you closer to piston to valve contact.
