Cutting out a cage?
I had this cage do about 4 years ago which now pick away at with things I regret and want to fix this mig'd part bothers me.
It a 8pt mild steel insted of converting to 10pt i'd rather cut it all out and this time around fully tig it all and also it going to be a cromoly 10pt.
So I just figure to throw out the question if there might be a eazyer way? I was going to use my sawza and a grinder which ill be there for ever with.. cutting and grind down to floor plates.
I was thing a plasma cutter ?

i think your best bet is a simple 6" cutting wheel/cutoff wheel. a torch will make a mess in the car and is not precise at all. im assuming you just plan to grind down the plates but keep them welded into the car?
A torch or plasma can be plenty precise...it's the heat that might cause a problem. zip wheels and reciprocating saws make quick work of chopping pipes. Some of that cutting wax on your saw blade will speed up the work too.
a good trick w/the sawzall is to get yourself a longer metal blade, when you cut push the blade flush with the floor and have the sawzall up on an slight angle. you could cut pretty much flush with plate with this method then just use the grinder to clean it up.

haha, jaws of life! I have used the longer blade on the sawzall trick a couple times to get into some tricky spots. I always end up going through blades pretty quick though.
