Default Anyone ever dent their header?

I put a nice dent in the bottom primaries of my JDM 4-1 header (DC Sports), nothing to big. Will I lose any HP because of that? THe car doesnt seem to be any slower or losing power. Any thoughts

I am afraid that you are in for a big surprise. Because of those dents you will cause the exhust gas to run closer to the wall of the tubing causing it to flow slow and obstructed. This will in turn cause loss of HP and a diminishment of torque.

PS. I don't know if any of this is true.

I heard that by welding a nail to the dent and pulling the nail with a hammer, will take most of the dent away?

I'd scrape the oil pan before I dent my header. 4-2-1 rocks!

who hasn't?

My MUGEN header got damned once (yeah that one REALLY REALLY hurt). I took it to a guy who MAKES headers. He heated it up pulled out the dent and they are as good as new. 60 bucks for the process. I'll take pics soon

My I asked how he "pulled" out the dents? I was told you could use a ball bearing just smaller then the primaries welded to a rod, insert through the collecter and force the dents out (with a little heat of course). Im not sure where to find a ball that size, and I'm also weary of getting it stuck. I too have the JDM DC.

HAHA, I love that..."what kinda headers ya got der??"

I dented my JDM 4-1 so bad it cracked, I had to have the bad section removed and a new section welded in- ROYAL PITA !!!! After that I threw on a skidplate to try and protect it a bit more.

Just FYI... rewelding the header= $60 (not to mention I can never resell it ); the skidplate = $49.

later

I dented my JDM 4-1 header really bad. Totally crimped the piping. I went back to the track with it, it was killing me by 3 tenths and like 6 mph. The car feels like it lost alot of top end.

the dent must not be too big a BIG dent would cuase a loss in power. just put a spoon band aid on it and it will gian back all the hp you lost
